033 - Large - Grandmother's Fan #2

This coat was an absolute labor of love. The original vintage quilt (from Spokane WA) was stunning but had MANY flaws that had to be repaired. Only 15 of the 63 squares were in good shape, and I had to pick them apart with a seam ripper and tweezers! Some of the fans were in such bad shape that I had to appliqué over the top of them.

I had already made a coat out of this quilt (#030-Medium), so it was quite the challenge to figure out how to get another coat out of the remaining quilt pieces.

I was surprised at how many different fabrics were used to make the original quilt - plus a variety of white background fabrics were used.

During the time I was making this coat, I came across 2 beautiful and colorful doilies at a vintage store. I knew they could be added to this coat somehow!

* Size LARGE, with regular shoulders
* 1 interior pocket; no buttons
* Colorful vintage doilies on the sleeves
* The coordinated cuffs are pieced from a different vintage quilt
* Batting is from the original quilt
