This coat was inspired by a quilt I saw in an historical quilt book. Although my quilt looked NOTHING like it's inspiration, I'm happy with the results and it was fun to make; thank goodness because it took over a month!

A few of the fabrics were sourced from deconstructed thrifted linen clothes, while others were from my dwindling cotton stash. The sleeves are made of a soft yellow and gray cotton lawn fabric I purchased at Pittsburgh's lovely "Firecracker Fabrics" store. The sleeve linings are of a silky purple polyester (to reduce movement friction). The batting is a piece of upcycled medium-weight flannel.
